Destination: Dunhuang, China
Activities: The hub of the legendary Silk Road of ancient times is endowed with world's richest treasure house of Buddhist sutras, murals and sculptures, all of which can be seen on this city tour package to Dunhuang. The magnificent Mogao Grottos (Caves of A Thousand Buddhas) will amaze you, as will the beautiful Echoing-sand Dune and the Crescent Lake. As well as the fine views a camel ride will give you a first hand experience of what it was like when caravans plied the Silk Road. This is a truly extraordinary tour that is steeped in historic traditions.

The tour: Mogao Grottos wich according to Tang Dynasty records, a monk had witnessed onsite a vision of thousand Buddhas under showers of golden rays. Thus inspired, he started the caves construction work that spanned ten dynasties. Mogao Caves are commonly known as the Caves of a Thousand Buddhas. Echoing-Sand Dune - The dune is formed by the pileup of drifting sand. Like a golden huge dragon, it extends about 40 kilometers from Mogao Grottoes in the east to the Danghe Reservoir. It utters tremendous sound when it blows a gale; it murmurs when people slide down from the mountain top; so it gets its name Echoing-Sand Dune. Crescent Lake - It is the fascinate wonder of desert. Encircled by the Echoing-Sand Dune, the crescent lake is a crystal clear lake with the shape of the crescent moon. It is like an emerald embedded in the golden sands. Although it is frequently attacked by squall and furious sand, the lake water is still limpid and sweet.
